Ahead of their imminent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter in Bengaluru on May 4, Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill caught up with his compatriot and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli.
A snippet of their 🔯exchange after the pre-match warm-up was shared by the GT. Both teams, have endured a lacklustre season in IPL 2024. RCB find themselves at the bottom of the league table, managing only three victories out of their ten matches, while GT have fared marginally better at the eighth position with four wins out of ten matches.
Virat Kohli pulls Shubman Gill’s leg
In a clip circulated by GT, Virat was captured exchanging handshakes with Gill, and he playfully quipped afterwards, ” Badi jaldi aaya practice pe” (You’re here for practice so early).

Gill’s exclusion from T20 World Cup squad
Recently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member Men’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, one of the notable exclusion was of Gill. However, he might comeback in the squad as he is part of the travelling reserves and team’s have an option to alter their outfit until May 25.

GT skipper’s performance in IPL 2024
Gill was named captain of GT for IPL 2024 following Hardik Pandya‘s departure to Mumbai Indians (MI). Taking on the leadership role, he 🍌not only led the team but also showcased his batting prowess, tallying 320 runs in 10 matches at a striking rate of 141, which comprised two half-centuries.
The right-handed batter started his IPL journey with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2018. From 2022 onwards, he transitioned to playing for GT. Across his IPL career spanning 101 matches, he has amass꧂ed 3110 runs at an impressive average of 38. ꦕHis most remarkable season was in 2022, where he hammered 890 runs and claimed the coveted orange cap.
