Rajeev Shukla, the vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has stepped up to elucidate India’s position on participating in the 2025 Champions Trophy, set to take place in Pakistan between February and March 2025.

The tumultuous political landscape between India and Pakistan has cast a shadow over cricketing ties as well. Since 💞the 2012-13 season, bilateral cricket series between the two nations have been on hiatus. Consequently, encounters in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup remain the sole 🍨platforms where India and Pakistan compete against each other.

Rajeev Shukla explains his perspective on Champions Trophy 2025

In the conversation with ANI, Sജhukla clarified the position on the 20💃25 Champions Trophy scheduled in Pakistan, emphasizing that our actions will align with the directives of the Indian government, as the decision is not within our control.

“In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So, we will go according to the decision of the Indian government,” Shukla said on ANI.

Pakistan defeated India in the2017 Champions Trophy final

In the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Pakistan registered a resounding victory over India, triumphing by a massive margin of 180 runs. Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted an impressive total of 338/4 in their allotted 50 overs, courtesy of a remarkable century by Fakhar Zaman (114) and an aggressive fifty from Mohammad Hafeez (57). Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya managed to claim a wicket each with their commendable bow🤪ling spells.

In their pursuit, India faltered, succumbing to an all-out score of 158. Despite Hardik’s valiant effort with a half-century (76), the rest of the top order failed to make a significant impact. Mohammed Amir and Hasan Ali starred for Pakistan, each claiming three wickets to dismantle India’s batting lineup.
