On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member squad for the Pakistan Men’s team set to compete in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and USA. Notably, Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim have been included in the World Cup lineup after rece🤡ntly coming out of retirement to rejoin the national team.
New faces in the squad
Under the leadership of Babar Azam, the squad features five players who will be making their T20 World Cup debut. Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan will play their maiden World Cup.
Conversely, the selection committee has left out eight players who were part of Pakistan’s squad for the 20❀22 edition of the tournament.
8 Players from the 2022 T20 World Cup who didn’t make the 2024 squad
Shan Masood: The current Test captain of Pakistan, Shan Masood failed to secure his spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. He was the joint highest run-scorer for the Men in Green in the previous editi😼on, scoring 175 runs in 7 matches. Despite that, Masood didn’t find his place in the squad for the 2024 season of T20 World Cup.
Asif Ali: Known for his powerful striking, Asif Alဣi, didn’t get enough chances to prove his mettle. He played a solitary game in the 20﷽22 T20 World Cup, scoring just 1 run.
Haider Ali: Though, talented Haider Ali didn’t get enꦕough opportunity in the T20 World Cup 2022, but whatever chances he got, he screwed it up. He only played a couple of game but scored only 2 runs.
Khushdil Shah: All-rounder Khushdil Shah didn’t get any opportunity in the T20 World Cup 2022. Though he did feature in the🗹 warm-up fixture against England but was dismissed for a duck by Sam Curran.

Mohammad Nawaz: All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz had a disappointing time in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He could only pick up three wickets from 💜7 matches and with the bat, Nawaz scored just 68 runs from 5 innings.
Mohammad Haris: The wicketkeeper-batter wasn’t not im𝓰pressive for Pakistan in the last edition of the T20 World Cup. He averaged just 24.25 afﷺter scoring 97 runs in 4 games.
Mohammad Hasnain: Like Khusdil, Mohammad Hasnain too didn’t get any chance to showcase his skills in the previous edition of the mega event. He last played for Pakistan in 6th M𓂃atch of the T20I Tri Series against Bangladesh in October 2022.
Mohammad Wasim Jr: The rising pace bowler Mohammad W🐟asim Jr had a decent time in the 2022 T20 World Cup. He took 8 wickets in 6 matches and was the 4th highest wicket taker for his side. Still, Wasim couldn’t make it to the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
