In a thrilling match at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 9 runs at 🎉the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket ౠStadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Thursday.
Suryakumar Yadav propels Mumbai to a competitive total
After being asked to bat first, Mumbai posted a massive total of 192/7 in their 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the star for MI, scoring a brilliant 78 off 53 balls, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Former skipper Rohit S🥂harma provided a quickfire🐓 36 off 25 balls at the top, but the rest of the batting order faltered against a disciplined Punjab bowling attack.
Harshal Patel bagged three wickets for 31 runs in his quota of 4 overs while PBKS skipper Sam Curran picked up♛ a couple of scalps. Kagiso Rabada secured only a single 🎐wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah outshines Abhishek Sharma’s heroics
In reply, Punjab’s chase never quite got into a smooth rhythm. Openers Curran and Prabhsimran Singh fell cheaply, leaving the middle order with a mountain to climb. Ashutosh Sharma, however, played a blinder of a knock, scoring a rapid 61 off just 28 deliveries. Shashank Singh (41 off 25) also chipped in with a valuable knock, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. Harpreet Brar‘s late cameo of 21 runs wasn’t enough for Punjab as they were eventually bowled out for 183 runs in 19.1 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah was the star with the ball for Mumbai, taking a brilliant three-wicket haul for 21 runs in 4 overs. Gerald Coetzee als💖o bagged three scalps while conceding 32 runs.

If I could anoint Jasprit Bumrah wi♉th a fast bowling PHD, I would. He is a terrific communicator, Knowledgable & articulate. I’d then have him hold bowling lectures to young for aspiring seam bowlers across the country at all levels. I wouldn’t wait until he retired. .

The thriller was artificial – barring Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, this Punjab batting order has been an NPA. Don’t remember when were they so timid ever
