IPL 2024 [WATCH]: Venkatesh Iyer dismisses Jake Fraser-McGurk with a phenomenal catch in KKR vs DC game

In another entertaining match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) convincingly defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 7 wickets at Eden Gardens. KKR’s bowlers showcased their skill and restricted DC to a total of 153 for 9. In response, KKR chased down the target in just 16.3 overs, fueled by an outstanding innings from Phil Salt (68 off 33).

Despite being in exceptional form throughout the IPL season, Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed after scoring only 12 runs off 7 balls. His dismissal came as he attempted a high shot, only to be caught by KKR’s Venkatesh Iyer at the boundary. Iyer’s remarkable catch quickly gained attention on social media platforms.

However, McGurk mistimed the stroke, causing the ball to fall short towards deep square leg, where Iyer showcased exceptional fielding skills by grabbing the catch.

DC’s tough path for playoffs

DC suffered their sixth loss of the current IPL season, dropping them to the sixth spot in the points table. Holding onto 10 points with a worrying Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.442, the team captained by Rishabh Pant can face a tough challenge in their playoff journey. With only three matches left, DC must stage a comeback and secure victories in all their upcoming games if they aim to fulfil their dream of lifting the trophy for the first time.
