Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a convincing six-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 played at the Narendra Modi St♏adium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
GT batters falter
Opting to bowl first, DC bowlers put up a disciplined performance, restricting GT to a paltry 89 runs in 17.3 overs. Afghanistan’s T20I skipper Rashid Khan was the lone bright spot for GT with a fighting knock of 31 runs. Mukesh Kumar emerged as t🅘he pick of the DC bowlers, claiming three crucial wickets for just 14 runs in his 2.3 ove🦄rs.
Dominant DC chase
In reply, DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-Mcgurk got their team off to a brisk start. While Shaw fell early, Fraser-Mcgurk continued to play aggressively, scoring 20 runs. Skipper Rishabh Pant and the other middle-order batters ensured there were no further hiccups as DC chased down the target comfortably in just 8.5 overs, losing only four wickets in the proceꦕss.

Shubham Gill opens up on GT’s defeat
This marks only the third occasion when GT has been dismissed in an IPL match, following their dismissals for 157 in the Qualifier 1 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last season and for 130 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) earlier this month.
“Our batting was very average, and it is important to move on and come back strong. The wicket was alright, if you see some of the dismissals, it had nothing to do with the pitch. Poor shot selection I would say,” stated GT skipper Shu💞bman Gil൩l in the post-match interview.
“When the opposition is chasing 89, unless someone takes a double hat-trick, the opposition will always be in the game,” he added.
“This is just the halfway mark of the season for us, we have won 3 and hopefully, we win another 5-6 from the next 7 matches, like we have done in the last couple of years.”
