In a heartfelt announcement, former Australian skipper and World Cup winner, Aaron Finch, has decided to bid adieu to the Big Bash League (BBL) after enduring a challenging and injury-laden season with the Melbourne Renegades.

The 37-year-old cricket stalwart, who served as the captain for the Renegades for an impressive nine consecutive seaso💙ns, played a pivot𒅌al role in leading the Melbourne franchise to BBL glory in the eighth season.
Making the announcement ahead of the Renegades’ clash against the Hobart Hurricanes at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night, Finch expressed that it’s the right time to bring an end to his illustrious cricketing career.
Reflecting on his journey, Finch told Fox Cricket, “There have been some real lows but great highs and I’ve loved every bit of the journey.”
“No moment can compare to winning the title. That for me was very special and something I’ll remember.”

“Renegades have been a huge part of my life”: Finch
Finch, who holds the record for the most runs (3311) and BBL gam✤es (106) for the Renegades, expressed his pride in being associated with the club throughout his career.
“I’m really proud to have played at the once club for the entirety of my career. The Renegades have been a huge part of my life and I’m so grateful for everything they’ve given me,” added Finch.
“To everyone who’s been part of the journey with me – our members, fans, supporters, my teammates and all who have had a part to play at the club at all levels – Thank You.”
The Australian cricket veteran will leave an indelible mark on the BBL, finishing his career as the competition’s second most prolific run-scorer of all time, just behind Chris Lynn (3638). Notably, Finch etched his name in Renegades’ history by scoring the team’s first-ever BBL century in December 2012 against Melbourne Stars, a match where he assumed the captaincy and dismantled legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne to reach the milestone in 60 balls.
Finch further added to his century count in January 2020, marking the only two centuries in the club’s history, with a memorable 109 against the Sixers at the SCG.
