Badrinath raised a pertinent question about Kohli’s absence from the Test captaincy, emphasizing that the 35-year-old is a superior red-ball batter compared to Rohit. He highlighted Kohli’s exceptional track record in the longest format, asserting that Delhi-born cricketer, being a strong player, should be leading the Test team.
“Why is he (Virat) not the captain of the Test team? I want to raise this valid question. He is a better test batter. There is no comparison between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He is a big player in terms of Test cricket. He has scored runs everywhere. Why is he not leading and a weaker player?,” Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel♏.

Badrinath’s critical opinion on Rohit
Badrinath further expressed skepticism about Rohit’s role as an opener, citing concerns about his performance outside India and labeling him as a less proven player. The Chennai-born cricketer questioned the reasons for Rohit’s presence in the Test team and underscored the need for proven performance, particularly in overseas conditions.
“As far as I am concerned, a weaker player (Rohit) who is not yet proven as an opener. He has been in and out. We can consider all of that. But I think Rohit Sharma has not proven himself as an opener outside India. Why is he there?,” the 43-year-old added.
