New Zealand faced early setbacks as Rachin Ravindra, and Henry Nicholls fell prey to Shoriful Islam in the first over. Despite the early trouble for the hosts, the hopes of sustained joy for Bangladesh were quashed as Tom Latham and Will Young forged an impressive partn✱ership, amassing ♏171 runs for the third wicket.

Latham displayed skilful batting, accumulating 92 runs off 77 balls, while Young emerged as the standout performer, notching up his third ODI century with a stellar 105 runs off 84 deliveries. The late contributions of Mark Chapman, who scored 20 off 11 balls, and 19 extras added𝓡 to the score, helped the Kiwis post a challenging score of 239/7 in 30 overs, marked by several run-outs executed by the rivals in the final stages of the innings.

Bangladesh fells well short of target

In pursuit of the revised target of 245 in 30 overs as per the DLS method, Bangladesh faced an early setback with the departure of Soumya Sarkar. However, Anamul Haque showcased a commendable performance, contributing 43 runs to the chase, while Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy posted scores of 22 and 33, respectively.

Afif Hossain took charge and played aggressively, adding 38 runs off 28 balls to the scoreboard. In the final stages, Mehidy Hasan Miraz made a valuable contribution, scoring an unbeaten 28 off 21 balls. Despite these efforts, the guests fell 44 runs short of their target, ending at 200/9 in the allotted 30 overs. New Zealand’s disciplined bowling was evident, with only eight extras conceded.
