Team India’s wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul showcased his brilliance on the cricketing stage by notching up his eighth century in Test cricket. The remarkable achievement unfolded on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The 31-year-old 🌳cricketer, who took on the responsibility in the middle order, played a pivotal role in rescuing India from a potential batting collapse on the opening day. Facing a challenging situation with India reduced to 92/4 after South Africa elected to field, Rahul steadied the ship.
KL Rahul steers India to a competitive score
Rahul’s innings gained momentum despite the early loss of captain Rohit Sharma, and India managed to reach the 245-run mark. Rahul formed crucial partnerships with Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj guiding India to c𓆏ompetitive total in their fꦺirst innings.
Despite the challenges of losing partners at the other end, Rahul displayed resilience and skill, finishing on 101. The right-handed batter completed his hundred in the first s🤪ession of play on Day 2.
With this century, Rahul also became the first non-South African to smash multiple tons in Centurion. His innings not only showcased individual brilliance but also played a crucial role in stabilizing India’s position in the ongoing Test match.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to KL Rahul’s record ton:
Well played . What impressed me was his clarity of thought. His footwork looked precise and assured, and that happ🤡ens when a batter is thinking right. This century is crucial in the context oℱf this Test. India would be happy with 245 considering where they were at one…
