The former Mumbai Indians (MI) player, whose prowess on the field earned him recognition, has been appointed as the assistant coach for the England men’s team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
England ropes in Kieron Pollard for the coaching role
Having showcased his skills as a player, the MI stalwart and former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will now bring his wealth of experience and cricketing insights to the coaching setup of the England team. This appointment underscores the growing trend of IPL alumni transitioning into coaching roles a🌄t the international level.
Pollard, who bid farewell to international cricket in April last year and also announced his IPL retire🦹ment, has been pa𝓰rt of the MI support staff as batting coach.
“Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard has been appointed to the England Men’s coaching team for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and United States. Pollard will join the England Men’s team specifically for the T20 World Cup as an assistant coach and to provide expertise of local conditions,” the England and Wa🌄les Cricket Board (ECB) stated in their press r൲elease.
