Cricket fans worldwide were treated to an interesting encounter at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata when Pakistan faced Bangladesh in a high-stakes match during the ODI World Cup 2023. The contest lived up to its billing as both teams battled fiercely for supremacy. Pakistan emerged victorious, winning the match by seven wickets, thanks to a stellar performance from opener Fakhar Zaman.
Amidst all the cricketing action, a lighthearted and amusing moment stole the spotlight as Pakistan’s wicketkeeper, Mohammad Rizwan, added a touch of humour to the game.
The hilarious banter between Mohammad Rizwan and Taskin Ahmed
The humorous incident occurred during the 43rd over of Bangladesh’s innings when Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladeshi batter, was facing Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi. Taskin tried to flick a delivery from Shaheen, but the ball went to the wicketkeeper Rizwan, brushing off his pad. In typical cricket fashion, the Pakistan team immediately appeal😼ed for a caught-behind, believing that Taskin had edged the ball.
The on-field umpire, however, remained unmoved and turned down the appeal. Undeterred, Pakistan’s players gave a thought to review the decision and consulted their skipper, Babar Azam. What happened next was nothing short of comical as Rizwan turned to Taskin a💞nd asked him whether he had indeed edged the ball before opting for the review. This impromptu consulta⛄tion between Rizwan and Taskin left both players and commentators in splits, adding a touch of comedy to the intense contest.
