In the midst of𒉰 this uncertainty, star all-rounder , a seasoned campaigner in the Australian squad, has expressed her choice for the new captain. Perry, however, has made it clear that she has no interest in taking on the role herself. Instead, she has named veteran wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy as her preferred candidate.

Confidence in the leadership skills

Perry emphasized the wealth of talent and leadership withi𝓰n the Australian team and threw her support behind Healy for the captaincy.

“We have a strong leadership group with some really experienced players in our team. So my assumption would be that Midge will carry on doing it, but I don’t have any further insight than that,” Perry remarked.

With the evolving landscape in women’s cricket and increased competition from various nations, Perry sees Healy’s potential to lead the team effectively.

“The landscape has changed quite rapidly because we’ve got some really great challenges from quite a few countries. So the way we want to take our game forward has coincided with Midge leading the ship. I think that’s presented a great opportunity for her and the group to look at things freshly and almost have a blank canvas to start working off,” explained Perry.
