Bangladesh announces Women’s squad for the white-ball tour of South Africa
Bangladesh name Women squad for South Africa tour

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed their Women’s squad set for the limited-overs tour of South Africa, commencing on December 03 in Benoni. This series includes three T20Is followed by an equal number of ODIs, contributing to the 2022-25 Women’s Championship. Bangladesh, currently placed seventh on the championship table, will face South Africa, positioned fifth, in a cruci⛦al encounter.

Return of veteran Lata Mondal

The 16-member squad sees the return of veteran all-rounder Lata Mondal. Having missed Bangladesh’s home series against Pakistan, Mondal last graced the ODIs against India in July. Her experience is anticipated to bolster the team, especially after Bangladesh’s recent triumph against Pakistan, clinching both the ODI and T20I series 2-1.

Notable exclusions and continuity in leadership

Off-spinner Nishita Akter, who made her debut in the Pakistan series, along with left-arm spinner Sanjida Akter, opener Shathi Rani, and left-arm pacer Fariha Trisna, all absent from the T20I side against Pakistan, find themselves excluded. Nigar Sultana continues to lead the team, with Nahida Akter serving as her deputy.

Head-to-Head records

In terms of head-to-head statistics, Bangladesh faces a challenging record against South Africa. Having secured victory only twice in 18 ODIs and once in 11 T20Is, the Bangladeshi team aims to defy the odds and make a mar𝓡k in the upcoming series.
