However, Zainab’s journey at the World Cup 2023 took a tumultuous turn when several of her alleged “anti-Hindu” tweets surfaced on social media, sparking outrage among various communities. The controversy escalated rapidly, and the Lahore-born television host became entangled in legal troubles as the public outcry grew louder.
Amid the escalating tension, Zainab left India, citing personal reasons. Meanwhile, in response to the controversy surrounding Zainab and her departure, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, issued a statement to address the situation.

Pakistan’s foreign office responds
Mumtaz expressed deep regret regarding filing a legal case against Zainab and strongly criticized the Indian government for what she deemed an “unwarranted” controversy surrounding the ICC presenter.
“The case against Zainab Abbas on unnecessary tweets is not appropriate. Zainab is being dragged into an unjustified case,” Mumtaz said when asked about the issue during the weekly pres♓s briefing.
It’s worth noting that an Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindal took legal action by approaching the police, requesting the formal registration of a complaint against Zainab. The lawyer alleged that she had made statements perceived a🌃s critical of India and Hinduism, 𝕴prompting the initiation of a legal process.
