Hardik Pandya’s injury scare
However, amidst the jubilation of the victory, Indian fans were left concerned by the sudden injury of star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The injury occurred during the ninth over of the first innings when Pandya attempted to field a straight drive from Litton Das. Unfortunately, Pandya’s right foot slipped during the process, causing him to fall and twist his ankle.

Pandya’s discomfort was immediately apparent, and he had to have his right ankle strapped on the field. Despite the strapping, he was unable to continue playing and had to leave the field. Kohli, the former captain, stepped in to complete the remainder of Pandya’s over, marking his first over in World Cup cricket since 2015.
Rohit Sharma provides injury update
Following the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma provided an injury update on Pandya. Rohit assuꩲred fans that there is no major damage to Pandya despite the incident.
“He pulled up a bit sore. There is no major damage, which is good for us. But obviously, with an injury like that, we have to assess every day, and we will do whatever is required,” Rohit stated, allaying some fears about Pandya’s fitness for the upcoming matches in the tournament.
