Zainab Abbas, a Pakistani sports presenter, has left India during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 for what has been described as a ‘personal reason.’
An ICC official C. Rajshekhar Rao has revealed♛ that she has returned to her nation from India. However, the exact reason for her departure was not disclosed, and it remains unclear whether she ha♍s reached Pakistan.
Earlier in the day, the Pakistan media reported that Zainab has left India and is staying at a 🎀hotel in Dubai. She will ܫsoon board the flight to her hometown in Lahore.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to comment on the matter.
Zainab Abbas in legal trouble
Media reports in India have suggested that Zainab’s past social media posts had come under scrutiny since the start of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup on October 5.
A complaint was filed in Delhi last wee💛k (on October 5) by a local lawyer,🐻 who accused Zainab of posting “derogatory” tweets targeting the Hindu faith in the past.
The complaint was rooted in screenshots of posts made by an ac💙count with Abbas’ name in the Twitter handle o💙n micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) in 2014.
However, another tweet of hers, which was indeed from her official account, was cited in the complaint merely becau꧋se of its pro-Kashmir co🔜ntent.

The complainant had also sought a registration of a first information report (FIR) against the presenter under various sections of the law “for making disparaging remarks about Hinduism and for anti-India statements”.
In his post on X, the advocate demanded that Zainab should be removed ꦕfrom𓄧 the list of presenters for the ongoing World Cup.

On October 7, the advocate shared a redacted version of another letter he sent to the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah. The letter in question contained the recipient’s name and the subject and sought action against the presenter for her alleged anti-Hindu remarks.
