Amid the anticipation for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, India has added another trophy to their illustrious cabinet. In a stunning display of cricketing masterclass, the Indian side secured a memorable ten-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, clinching the Asia Cup title for an unprecedent🔯ed 8th tim🌳e, a record unmatched by any other team.
Following the post-match celebrations and customary formalities, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has dropped a significant hint about the possible inclusion of spin bowling all-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar in the World Cup squad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially unveiled India’s provisional squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, featuring spin trio consisting of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. However, concerns have arisen regarding Patel’s fitness, as he was excluded from the Asia Cup final due to a left quadriceps strain sustained during the Super 4s match against Bangladesh.

To counter this uncertainty, the Indian team management has wisely established contingency plans. They summoned Sundar as Axar’s replacement, promptly integrating him into the playing XI for the final showdown against Sri Lanka.
Interestingly, Sundar didn’t get the opportunity to showcase his skills, as India’s bowling prowess dismantled Sri Lanka for a mere 50 runs in just 15.2 overs.
It’s worth noting that teams have until September 28 to make any necessary alterations to their provisional ODI World Cup squads, allowing them to navigate unforeseen challenges effectively.
