On Thursday, September 28, Mayank clarified that he was the one with his hand on Pant’s shoulder in the photograph. The right-handed batter emphasized that the various conspiracy theories making rounds on social media regarding this matter are entirely untrue.

Mayank made his international debut in a Boxing Day Test match against Australia as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2018-2019 season.
