Harry Brook‘s absence from England‘s 15-member provisional squad for the upcoming  ODI World Cup 2023 in India is a notable exclusion. This decision arose in the wake of star all-rounder Ben Stokes‘ unexpected return to the 50-over format, which eventually led to Brook missing out on a coveted spot in the global tournament.

However, Brook’s exclusion from the squad has not dampened his cricketing skills, as he continues to dazzle enthusiasts with recent stellar performances. One of the standout moments was his exceptional century in the Men’s Hundred 2023 competition against Welsh Fire (WEF). Additionally, the 24-year-old played a pivotal role in England’s recent four-match T20I series against New Zealand, contributing t♈wo match-winning innings. These impressive displays have reignited conversations regarding his potential inclusio🌺n in the squad.

Mott elaborated on the factors contributing to Brook’s omission. He notably emphasized Brook’s limited experience in one-day cricket, a significant consideration in the selection process. Mott also pointed out the impressive track record of the chosen players, highlighting their consistent contributions to England’s success in recent years.

“Harry has not played a lot of one-day cricket over the last few years. He’s been exceptionally good in Test cricket and T20 cricket and leagues around the world, but the guys that we did pick have done a great job for England over the last few years. It’s always harder to get into sides than it is to get out of them and we’ve played that card there,” Mott was quoted as saying by .

Mott Impressed by Brook’s positive response

Additionally, the 49-year-old commended Brook’s batting performance since his exclusion from the squad, expressing his satisfaction with the player’s positive response.

“What I’ve been most impressed by is his response since missing out and that’s what great players do. There’s a lot to play out before we pick that first XI against New Zealand in India and we’ve always said it’s a provisional squad. Everyone will get a really good opportunity to show what they’ve got,” the Charleville-born further added

Mott believes the doors are still open for brook

Mott stressed the fluid nature of the provisional sq📖uad, highlighting that it remains subject to alterations. He further emphasized that every player should seize the opportunity to exhibit their skills and make a case for their inclusion in the final selection.

“As I’ve said, it’s a provisional squad. Every team will be tinkering before that World Cup and everyone – whether they’re in that 15 or outside it – should be determined to try and put their best foot forward,” Mott concluded.
