Countless wishes and admiration poured in from fans and the cricketing community as India’s cricketing icon, Sunil Gavaskar, celebrated his 74th birthday on Monday (July 10). Among all, veteran India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also conveyed his greetings to the legendary batter on the special day. Irfan took to his official Tw꧃itter account to wish Gavask꧟ar in a unique and heartwarming manner.
Gavaskar is widely regarded as one the greatest batters of all time in cricketing history and has left an indelible mark on Indian cricket through his exceptional batting skills. The Mumbaikar transitioned into a successful commentator post his 𝔉retirement and is often seen hosting mega ICC events.
Irfan, who himself has been a prominent figure in Indian cricket and is currently seen commentating, shared a cute video of Gavaskar to commemorate his 74th birthday. The video shared by the Baroda cricketer captured a delightful moment of Gavaskar engaging in catching practice with his little son. In the footage, Gavaskar can be seen playing with full enthusiasm and exhibiting remarkable reflexes by taking fast catches thrown towards him by Irfan’s son.
Sharing the video, Irfan also took a dig at the young cricketers by lauding Gavasᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚkar for his fitness and saying that many youngsters would feel shame after watching the clip.
“Wishing our first batting legend #SunilGavaskar sir a very happy birthday. May you always stay fit. By the way, this catching will put some youngsters to shame. #happybirthday,” wrote Irfan.

Speaking of Gavaskar’s illustrious career, the right-handed batter played many historic knocks for the Indian cricket team, and he was an integral part of India’s 1983 World Cup winning squad. Gavaskar had accumulated 10,122 runs in his Test career, supported by 34 centuries. Some of the Little Master’s records continue to stand the test of time even today.
