The second match of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 saw Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) take on Salem Spartans (SS) at the SNR College Cricket Ground on Tuesday (June 13). CSG emerged victorious in the contest🧜 by a comprehensive margin of 52 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, CSG posted a challenging total of 217/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Pradosh Ranjan Paul played a sensational innings for the Chepauk-based team and scored 88 runs off just 55 deliveries. The CSG batter hammered 12 fours and 1 six during his knock. Narayan Jagadeesan also contributed with a solid 35 runs off 27 balls, supported by Baba Aparajith‘s quickfire 29 off 19 deliveries. Meanwhile, Sanjay Yadav‘s late fireworks played a handy role in CSG’s mammoth total as well. Sunny Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for the Spar🍷tans as he claimed two wickets for his side.
In reply, the SS fought hard but fell short and managed to score 165/9 in their 20 overs. Although Muhammed Adnan Khan played a blistering innings, providing a glimmer of hope with his aggressive knock of 47 runs off just 15 balls, his effort went in vain, and Spartans eventually lost the match. The CSG bowlers were on top of their game, with Baba Aparajith, M-Viju Arul, and B Rocky bagging two wickets each. S Harish Kumar and Rahil Shah also chipped in with crucial wickets, ensuring the Spartans never gained s🌼ignificant momentum.
