Yashasvi Jaiswal was recently chosen as one of the standby players for Team India‘s squad in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023. The talented Indian cricketer got the call-up based on his remarkable performance for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Yashasvi amassed 625 runs in 14 matches of the recently concluded IPL and also won the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’ award for his exploit. However, his sensational efforts couldn’t help the Rajasthan-based side reach the playoffs of the event, and the team finished fifth on the points table.
Speaking of Yashasvi’s inclusion in the Indian set-up, the 21-year-old cricketer replaced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opene𒁃r Ruturaj G🔥aikwad in the list of standbys as the former informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he would be unable to join the squad due to his upcoming wedding on June 3. Mukesh Kumar and Suryakumar Yadav are the other notable names♑ alongsideꦇ Yashasvi in the backup players list.
Soon after his addition to the squad, Yashasvi accompanied captain Rohit Sharma to London and was seen having his first net session with the Indian side on Wednesday (May 31). The video of the same was released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their official Instagram page.
The clip starts with Yashasvi playing some clean strokes and then receiving a few tips from India’s star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. Meanwhile, the video ends with Virat Kohli guiding the young batter and Yashasvi shadow-batting and emulating Virat’s batting stance.
‘Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first net session with India,’ ICC captioned the clip.
