Former England captain Joe Root has poked fun at his teammate Stuart Broad after the latter faced an entire over from James Anderson during the County Championship 2023 match between Lanc🐽ashire and Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire were fighting to save the match when Broad walked in to bat with his team struggling at 122 for the loss of seven wickets and more than 10 overs left in the day’s play. Anderson then dismissed Brett Hutton to leave Notts score reading 125-8. But Broad and Luke Fletcher put on an important partnership of 11 🌸runs for the n⛦inth wicket in 7.1 overs.

Reacting to the same, Root uploaded a screenshot of Broad facing Anderson’s bowling on social media and captioned it with “You feeling ok nighthawk?” in a playful manner.

Broad responded to Root’s post jokingly. He wrote: “On repeat made me feel dizzy.”

Despite the tough conditions, Broad remained unbeaten on t😼hree runs off 50 balls, ensuring that Notting꧙hamshire ended up saving the match with 138 for nine in 67 overs.

The southpaw was much more fluent in the first essay, scoring 26 runs off 24 bal♈ls with five fours. He also picked up two wickets in the first innings, while Anderson went wicketless. However, Anderson accounted for three wickets in the second innings.

The match was important for both the English pacers 🅷as they are expected to play a significant role for their national team in the upcoming Ashes series, which will get underway in June.

In his recent 🗹interview to the Daily Mail, Broad urged England to emulate the 2005 Ashes success. The Three Lions regained the famous urn for the first time afte𝓡r 18 years in 2005 with a 2-1 series victory over the Aussies.

“I just want the whole series to grip the nation and inspire kids the way 2005 did,” Broad was quoted as saying to the Daily Mail.

“I want our players to take positive options at all times and if there’s a day we get bowled out for a 100, it is what it is. As long as the next day we come back with the same intent and become even more aggressive and entertain even more.”
