Delhi Capitals (DC) squared off with Mumbai Indians (MI) in match no. 18 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 at the DY Pat✅il Sports Academy in Mumbai on Monday (Marc🍃h 20) and .
Asked to bat first, MI started off very slow and managed to score just 109 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Pooja Vastrakar and Harmanpreet Kaur were the top scorers for the Mumbai-based team, with 26 and 23 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey took two wickets each for Delhi. The two dismissals Shikha struck included the wicket of dangerous Hayley Matthews, whom Jemimah Rodrigues caught inside the third-yไard circle in a brilliant effort.
On the third ball of the 4th over, Shika delivered a fuller delivery onto the pads of Matthews, which the latter tried to smack over mid-on but fell prey to Jemimah’s magnificent effort. Diving towards her right, the Mumbai cricketer judged the timing of the ball perfectly and pulled off a stunner to send Matthews back to the pavilion.

Talking about the result of the match, Delhi chased down the target with ease, reaching 110 runs for the loss of one wicket in just nine overs. Alice Capsey was the star performer for DC with an explosive 38 runs off just 17 balls, including one four and five sixes. Meg Lanning also played a crucial role in the run chase with 32 runs off 22 🎐deliveries. On the other hand, Matthews took the only wicket for MI.
