New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been added to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) squad for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will replace England batter Will Jacks for IPL 2023.
Jacks, who recently pulled out of the tournament due to injury, was bought by the Bengaluru-based franchise for INR 3.2 Crore at the 2023 IPL Auction in December last year. He is an attacking right-handed batter and also a handy off-spinner. RCB considered him an ideal cover for Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who has had his injur♛y issues in the past and only returned to acti🔯on in the ongoing ODI series against India.
Meanwhile, Bracewell – who went unsold earlier in action – has played 16 T20Is for the Blackcaps, scoring 113 runs and taking 21 wickets. The left-hander will join RCB at his base price of INR 1 crore.
Bracewell grabbed the attention of fans and experts after smashing a breathtaking cen🅷tury against India in the first ODI at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in January this year.
In a T20 career of 117 matches, he has 2284 runs at a strike rate of 133.48 and 40 wickets with an economy rate of 6.52. He will join captain Faf du Plessis, Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, Reece Topley, David Willey and countrymate Finn Allen as the overseas players at the RCB camp.
The Challengers will start their IPL 2023 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 2. It will be their first fixture at t♏heir home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Staꦑdium, since May 2019.
