Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), made a significant move to enhance their bowling attack by acquiring the services of New Zealand’s fast bowler Kyle Jamieson for INR 1 crore during the 2023 IPL Auction.
Unfortunately, Jamieson will not be able💦 to participate in the upcoming season due to a recurring back injury that has kept him out of action since June. He will have to miss out on the 16th edition of the IPL as his recovery process is expected to take around three more months. Hence, the Kiwi pacer will not be donning the yellow jersey for CSK in the coming tournament, much to the disappointment of fans and supporters of the team.
In the meantime, the Super Kings have signed South Africa seamer Sisanda Magala as a replacement for the injured Jamieson.
The 32-year-old Magala was unsold at the auction and has never previously featured in the IPL. He will join the Chennai-based franchise at his base price of INR 5🥀0 lakh🦩.
Despite not playing for South Africa in T20Is since April 2021, Magala is known for his bowling skills in the death overs. He sh🐻owed his a💖bility to take wickets in the powerplay during the inaugural edition of SA20 by taking half of his wickets within the first six overs.
Furthermore, Magala is also a handy lower-order batsman who has scored two half-centuries in his T20 career. Although the MS Dhoni-led side will face Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans in the opening fixture of IPL 2023 in Ahmedabad on March 31, it is unclear whether Maga𒅌la will be available for selection at the start of the tournament.
