Karachi Kings faced Multan Sultans in match no. 11 of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 at Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (February 22) and lost the contest by three runs.
Asked to bat first, Multan got off to a flying start as Mohammad Rizwan slammed a blazing ton to power his team to a competitive total of 196/2 in their allotted 20 overs. Rizwan scored a brilliant 110 off 64 deliveries consisting of four sixes and ten fours. Shan Masood also contributed valuable 51 runs to the team’s total. Meanwhile, Mohammad Umar and Shoaib Malik scalped a wicket each for Karachi.
In reply, Karachi failed to chase down the set target despite a good start and finished three runs behind Multan’s total at 193/5 in 20 overs. James Vince top-scored for his team with 75 runs off 34 balls, while skipper Imad Wasim also smashed a quick-fire 46 but unfortunately couldn’t guide his side to victory. On the other hand, Abbas Aridi grabbed two wickets for Multan, with Usama Mir and Khushdil Shah also picking up a scalp each.
At one poi🃏nt, it seemed like Karachi might snatch the game away from Multan, as after the blockbuster start given by Vince, they only needed 52 runs from 12 overs. However, due to losing wickets at regular intervals, the Wasim-led side ultimately tasted ye⛄t another close defeat in PSL 2023.
After the match, Pakistan’s veteran fast bowler and Karachi-based team’s current head coach in the ongoing PSL, Wasim Akram, was seen fully devasta🦄ted. He even kicked off the sofa in anger post the last 𝓀ball of the match.
