The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced the complete schedule for Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023.
The inaugural season of WPL will see a total of 20 league games and two playoff fixtures which will be played at two venuesﷺ in a 23-day window.
Five teams – Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz – will compete for the coveted trophy in the marquee tournament.
Gujarat Giants will take on Mumbai Indians﷽ in the opening fixture on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
On March 5, the WPL will have its first double-header day where Royal Challengers Bangalore will square off against Delhi Capitals at the Bra🃏bourne Stadium, CCI. UP Warriorz will play their first game of the league against Gujarat Giants at the DY Patil Stadium in the e💙vening.
The l𓄧ast game of the league stage will be played between UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals on﷽ March 21 at the Brabourne Stadium, CCI.
The Eliminator will take place at the DY Patil Sta💧dium on Mar🦹ch 24.
The summit clash is scheduled to takeꦡ place on Marcꦉh 26 at the Brabourne Stadium.
“In its first season, the Women’s Premier League will stage a total of 20 league matches and 2 Playoff games that will be played in a duration of 23 days. The league will start on 4th March at the DY Patil Stadium with a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians,” BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah stated in a press release.
The afternoon match of the double header will start at 3:30 pm IST while the evening game begins at ꩲ7:30 pm IST.
Rules for WPL 2023:
- Top 3 teams will qualify for the knockouts.
- Topper of the points table will reach directly into the final.
- 2nd & 3rd team will play in the Eliminator.
- Topper of the points table and winner of the Eliminator will play in final.
