During the third and final game between India and Sri Lanka at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Indian opener Shubman Gill smashed his second ODI century. He made a slow start but soon accelerated his innings which also saw him hitting four consecutive fours to fast bowler Lahiru Kumara in the sixth over.
Gill scored fifty in 52 deliveries and then took just 37 balls💜 more to complete hiꩲs century.
After playing a brilliant knock of 116 (97), the right-handed batter got clean bowled on the bowling of Kasun Rajitha. Gill jumped down the track to hit the slower delivery, but the ball kept low and went on to hit the stumps. The 23-year-old made a long walk back to the pavilion after playin🦹g some glamour sho💞ts, including 14 fours and two sixes.
It is worth noting that Gill was given the nod ahead of left-handed opening batter Ishan Kishan – who scored a scintillating double century in the third ODI against Bangladesh last month – and the Punjab lad grabbed it with both hands. In the first match of the series against Sri Lanka, Gill scored a 60-ball 70.
Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media where fans can be seen teasing Gill. The spectators began chanting ‘Sara…Sara’ while Gill was fielding near the boundary rope. The youngster waved towards the fans in response before shifting his focus back to the game.
