Former South African skipper Faf du Plessis shed light on the most challenging bowler he faced in Test cricket and has revealed that it’s an Indian spinner who gave him sleepless nights in the longest format.
Plessis is currently leading Joburg Super Kings in the ongoing SA20 and has been involved in many leagues across the world. The right-handed batter in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was previously part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise in the IPL for a very long time.
Plessis has represented South Africa across all three formats, but he got sidelined by the Proteas selectors and has been out 🐬of action from white ball-cricket for a while now. The 38-year-old batter played 69 Test matches and has 4163 runs to his name, comprising of ten centuries and 21 fifties.
Recently, during his conversation with ESPNcricinfo, Plessis revealed that it was Ravindra Jadeja whom he found ꦅmost challenging♎ to face in Test cricket.
“Saeed Ajmal quite a bit. Then Test matches in India, it was Ravindra Jadeja,” said Plessis when asked about which bowler gave ൩him slee𒁃pless nights in Test format.
In 60 Tests, Jadeja has bagged 242 wickets and slammed 2523 runs with three tons and 17 fifties to his name. The Indian all-rounder will next be in action against Australia in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
Due to a knee injury, Jadeja was not included in the Indian side since Asia Cup last year. The 34-year-old left-hander receඣntly underwent surgery and was rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Further, when asked about whom the Proteas batter liked to talk about cricket most, Du Plessis said: “Kane Williamson, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Those three.”
Notably, Dhoni, Jadeja and Plessis h🐻ave played together in the IPL for CSK.
