Mylee Hogan, an Australian TV presenter, has been demoted to a field reporter after being taken off-air by Channel 7’s Sunrise for her insulting comment on cricket legend Glenn McGrath.

Hogan, who had recently been introduced as one of the hosts of the morning show, miserably failed while trying to follow a TikTok trend on-air. On the New Year Eve, after a segment on a bizarre TikTok trend, where children and teenagers were pulling pranks on their parents by saying some of their favourite celebrities were dead when they weren’t, Hogan came up with a most shocking and unexpected gig.

Just after taking a dig at the visuals from the TikTok trend, fellow host Mark Beretta started talking about the next segment with their guest and former Australian cricketer McGrath. That was the time when Hogan jokingly said, “Glenn McGrath died”.

Her comment attracted no laughs and it stunned her co-hosts Beretta and Edwina Bartholomew, who quickly replied: “Don’t even…that’s not funny.

“I don’t get that at all. That’s so not funny… it’s crazy,” said Beretta.

Meanwhile, Hogan kept on giggling.

The show continued with McGrath’s interview and Bartholomew, later, apologised to the viewers of the show.

As expected,  Hogan’s joke was criticised heavily on social media with netizens calling her “immature and insensitive”. There were remarks even of boycotting Sunrise’s flagship show if Hogan stayed on-air.

After facing a heavy backlash, Hogan was taken off-air without any official announcement from the broadcasterಌs.

Talking about McGrath, he is one of the most celebrated fast 𝔍bowlers from Australia. He played over 370 international games for his national team from 1993 to 2007. During the period,  the right-armer picked up 563 Test wickets, 381 ODI 🍰wickets and five T20I wickets.
