Team India bowlers had a memorable outing on the opening day of the second Test against Bangladesh at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The pace and spin combination of Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin destroyed the Banglಞadesh batting unit as the hosts got♏ bundled out for 227 in 73.5 overs.
Umesh made full use of the conditions and returned with a sensational four-wicket haul, dismissing the likes of Shakib Al Hasan (16), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (15), Nurul Hasan (6) and Taskin Ahmed (1). The right-arm pacer had a phenomenal economy rate as he just conceded 25 runs from 15 overs,ꦅ including 4 maidens.
Similarly, Ashwin also picked up four scalps, including the prized wicket of Mominul Haque, who went on to smash a brilliant knock of 84 runs. Ashwin bagged four wickets while giving away 71 runs from 21.5 overs, including 3 ღmaidens.
Apart from the duo, Jaydev Unadkat, who is making a comeback in the Test side after 12 years, took two wickets. After packing the home team for 227, India have managed to reach 19 without a loss at stumps with captain KL Rahul (3 not out) and Shubman Gill (14 not out) at the crease.
“The start is good for the pacers early on. Some balls are kicking off, and some are seaming. I just looked to hit the right areas. When Ashwin started, we thought it would turn. But it didn’t, the pace isn’t there for the spinners to turn. The dry grass has made the surface spongy. We were trying to reverse and bowled wicket to wicket. Happy to have gotten it,” said Umesh after the end of the day’s play.

He's used as a weapon by the Indian Test team and he almost always delivers. His attitude and fitness is something all young fast bowlers should aspire to. Figures of 15-4-25-4, well bowled 👏🏽

213 for 5 to 227 for 10 – great comeback by India lead by Umesh Yadav, one of the best pacers in Asian conditions.

Umesh Yadav is under-appreciated in Tests, he's been amazing in Asian conditions.

About time we should start respecting Umesh Yadav the bowler in Test Cricket. It's not easy to always come in directly and perform when our main bowlers were injured. This was an excellent spell.

Umesh Yadav is outstanding today with the ball, he picked 4 wickets. His bowling figure (15-4-25-4) against Bangla🦩desh. He bowled really well.
