Team India on Tuesday suffered a massive scare as captain Rohit Sharma was hit on his right hand during an optional practice session ahead of the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final match against England on Thursday, November 10.

Rohit was taking customary throwdowns from S Raghu in the nets when a short ball struck his right hand following which he immediately looked in a bit of 🌼pain. He left the training immediately, sat on the ice box while an ice pack was tied to 🦂his right arm.

Mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton was seen talking to Rohit for a considerable amount of time. However, after a brief period of monitoring, the Indian skipp👍er tried to take strike again but left the session mid-way.

The extent of his injury is unknown and usually🧸, no official statement is made till the medical team goes through a thorough♓ investigation.

If indeed Rohit’s injury is serious, then it would be a big blow to the Men in Blue who have lost only one game in the ongoing T20 World Cup, against South Africa.

Sunil Gavaskar cautions Rohit Sharma before the semis

Rohit has failed to score big, except for 39-ball 53 against the Netherlands. Sharing his thoughts on Rohit’s poor batting performances in this World Cup, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said it is time for🧸 the right-handed opener to have some runs under his belt.

Gavaskar feꦛelsꦡ Rohit needs to control himself from playing the pull shots on short pitch deliveries.

“How he got out while playing the pull shot. He places it very well, score runs but also gets out. Especially when we talk about Australian grounds, the boundaries are bigger. He has a wide range of shots if he can control that particular shot. Even if he stays for 10 overs we can easily score 80-90 runs. He must play long,” the former India൩n cricketer was quoted as saying to 🧔Sports Today.

“We all know Rohit Sharma’s class and hope he gets back to his form in the last two matches and scores runs. He only started that concept to make the most of the six powerplay overs. He is getting out while trying to do that,” Gavaskar added.
