New Zealand have opened their account in the ongoing tri-series with an impressive eight-wicket victory against Bangladesh at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday.
Bowling first, Ish Sodhi and Michael Bracewell turned the screws and made Bangladesh batters battle for every single run. While Sodhi picked up two wickets for 31 in 4 overs, Bracewell also bagged a couple while conceding only 14 runs in 4 overs. Apart from the spin duo, the veteran pace pair of Trent Boult (2/25) and Tim Southee (2/34) took two wickets each. For Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto top scored with 3✤3 off 29, including four boundaries.
In response, the Black Caps chased down the target in 17.5 overs with eight wickets in hand. Devon Conway was the 🦩chief architect with𒉰 the bat, smashing an unbeaten 70 from just 51 deliveries with the help of seven fours and a six.
Conway and captain Kane Williamson put on a match-winning partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket. Williamson scored 30 off 29 before Hasan Mahmud dismissed him. Glenn Phillips then p♐artnered with Con🐲way, and the duo took the team home with 13 balls to spare.
