India registered a thumping 74-run victory over Thailand to storm into the finals of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2022 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Fielding first, Thailand did a relatively good job of restricting the mighty Indian team to 148/6 in 20 overs. Sornnarin Tippoch picked up thꦬree wickets for just 24 runs in her quota of 4 overs.
For the Women in Blue, opener Shafali Verma and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who returned after missing the last two matches due to a niggle, dragged India to a competitive tota🧸l. While Shafali scored 42 from 28 deliveries, Harmanpreet made 36 off 30 balls.
However, the batting unit of Thailand couldn’t perform well enough and only managed to get 74/9 in 20 overs, losing the contest by 74 runs. Deepti Sharma led the bowling attack and returned with jaw-droppi🌱ng figures of 3/7 in her quota of 4 overs, including a maiden.
Apart from Deepti, Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2/10), Renuka Singh (1/6), and Shafali (1🅠/9) chipped in with valuable cont𝕴ributions.
