In the 14th match of the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, England captain and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler took a stunning catch to dismiss his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Nabi.

It all happened in the 16th over of the first innings. On the third ball, England pacer Mark Wood bowled a short pitch delivery down the leg-side, and Afghanistan skipper Nabi tried his best to guide it over the keeper’s head for a boundary. But Buttler had other plans as he dived towards his left and grabbed a blinder.

Nabi had to walk back to the dugout for a 5-ball 3, with his team struggling at 🐟91-5.

After Nabi’s dismissal, Afghanistan could add only 21 runs to their total and were eventually bundled out for 112 in 19.4 overs.

All-rounder Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers✨ for England, registering his maiden 5-wicket-haul in T20Is. He finished with the figures of 5 for 10 while Ben Stokes and Mark Wood bagged two wickets apiece.

Here’s the video:

England lost five wickets in reply to Afghanistan’s paltry score. They reached the finish line in 18.1 overs, with Liam Livingstone (29 not out) being the only batter to cross the 20-figure mark. Afghanistan conceded 12 wid💝es while defending their low total.

“Fielding is a huge part of this game. It was a fantastic effort in the field. Mark Wood is always fun to keep wicket to, he’s someone who can create catches like that, delighted to hang on to that. He’s very vital. He’s been backing up games and has been a great asset. He’s in a good place and we’ll try to look after him,” said Buttler in the post-match presentation.
