The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday revealed that fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against South Africa with a stiff back.
Chahar would now head back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and will be monitored by the medical staff. The 30-year-old pacer was one of the three reserves in India’s T20 World Cup squad but it remains to be seen if he would be able to make the trip to Australia.

Washington Sundar named as Deepak Chahar’s replacement
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Washington Sundar as a replacement for Chahar. Sundar, who last played for India in February, will also be making his return to the national side after a spate of injury setbacks. The 23-year-old all-rounder, who performed brilliantly in County Cricket during his short stay with Lancashire, had to miss India’s tour of Zimbabwe due to a shoulder injury.
India will play the second ODI against South Africa in Ranchi o๊n Sunday (October 9) and last game of the se⛄ries in Delhi on Tuesday (October 11).
