Sri Lanka defeated India in the third match of the Super 4 stage in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Chasing 174, Sri Lanka had a phenomenal start as their openers, Pathum Nissanka (52) and Kusal Mendis (57)𒉰, took the game away right from the beginning with a dominating partnership.
The duo added 97 runs before Yuzvendra Chahal got rid of Nissanka. A few balls later, Chahal also dismissed Charith Asalanka to bring India back into the game. Ravichandran Ashwin also joined the party and removed Danushka Gunathilaka before Yuzi bagged his third wicket in the form of Mඣendis.
The sudden fall of wickets to෴ok the game to the final over, where the Lankans managed to hold their nerves and won the contest by six wickets.
Earlier, a quickfire half-century by skipper Rohit Sharma helped Team India reach a chal🀅lenging total 🌟at the end of their 20 overs.
Apart from a 97-run partnership for the third wicket between Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav, the Lankan bowlers♎ did not allow any🌱 big stands after destroying India’s top order.
Following Suryakumar’s dismissal, the momentum again swung in Sri Lanka’s favour as the Men in Blue reached 173/8. For the Islanders, Dilshan Madushanka picked up three wickets for 24 while Chamika Karunaratne (2/27) and Dasun Shanaka (2/26) bagged a couple of scalps each.

India has a lot ꦫof concerns to address and they will be very disappointed with this result. Many areas to improve on before the World Cup. A speci𝔉al effort by Sri Lanka though.

Not an excuse but tough to ignore the Toss impact in Dubai. Hardest ground to win defending. One has to score in excess of 185 to win. In the last 19 games , 17 have won by the chasing team. The two 🌱games that the tea🍰m won batting first were NZ v Scotland and India v Hong Kong.
