Former international umpire Asad Rauf has passed away due to a heart attack in Lahore on Thursday. Rauf, who was 66 years old, made his first appearance as an umpire ๊in international cricket in 2000 and officiated in 64 Tests (49 as on-field umpire and 15 as TV uꦿmpire), 139 ODIs and 28 T20Is.
Notably, Rauf had played 71 first-class matches in the domestic circuit in Pakistan before becoming one of the leading umpires in world cricket. His career, however, came to an abrupt end when he was named as one of the accused by the Mumbai Police in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal.
