Indian star Cheteshwar Pujara, who is currently representing Sussex in the ongoing Royal London Cup 2022, exhibited his explosive avatar during a game against Warwickshire on Friday.
The Sussex skipper lit up the Edgbaston ground i🍌n Birmingham with his not-so-likely destructive batting. Pujara clobbered 22 runs in an over en route to his scintillating 107 off 79 balls in a thrilling contest.
It all happened during the 45th over of Sussex’s chase when Pujara took medium pacer Liam Norwell to the cleaners, hitting three fours and a six.
Here is how the over went:
44.1: Norwell to Pujara, FOUR, batter stepped outside off-stump to flick over fine leg.
44.2: Norwell to Pujara, 2 runs, full delivery outside off, Pujara dragged it towards the square.
44.3: Norwell to Pujara, FOUR, a good length ball drifting down the leg, flicked by the batter to fine leg.
44.4: Norwell to Pujara, 2 runs, full toss, a mistimed shot over extra cover.
44.5: Norwell to Pujara, SIX, another full toss, and Pujara slapped it over long-off.
44.6: Norwell to Pujara, FOUR, full delivery on the pads and batter played it over mid🅺-off.

Despite the heroic effort with the bat, Pujara couldn’t take the team home as Sussex fell short of a 311-run target, losing to Warwickshire by four runs with Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya picking up 3/51. With two wins and as many losses, Sussex sit at the sixth spot in the team standings of Group A, headed by Middlesex. Warwicksh🌃ire, on the ඣother hand, are in the top four.
