Australia Women cricket team’s opening batter Beth Mooney has reclaimed her numero uno position at the ICC Women’s T20I rankings for batters by overtaking team-mate and skipper Meg Lanning.
The ICC released the latest Women’s rankings on Tuesday and Mooney jumped one place to take over Lanning at the top following her spectacular run in the Commonwealth Games Women’s Cricket Competition 2022.
Mooney finished the 20-over tournament as the leading run-scorer with 179 runs from five innings, including 61 off 41 in the final against India, helping the Aussies win the contest and the Gold Medal.
The major gainer, however, in the rankings is Jemimah Rodrigues, who has jumped seven places to the 10th spot in the batters’ category. With that, Silver medallists India have three players inside the top 10. Apart from Jemimah, openers Smriti Mandhana (fourth) and Shafali Verma (sixth) are the other two stars in the top 10.
Amongst bowlers, England spinner Sophie Ecclestone remains at the No.1 position after five wickets for her side in the 🍃tournament.
Ecclestone’s team-mate and experienced campaigner Katherine Brunt has advanced one spot to second. Similarly, South Africa veteran Shabnim Ismail (fourth) and Australia quick Megan Schutt (fifth) have both moved one slot each.
When it comes to all-rounders, New Zealand star Sophie Devine has contౠinued her dom💖inance following yet another consistent tournament at the Commonwealth Games.
Devine scored the second most runs in the competition (177) and claimed six wickets to he✤lp White Ferns clinch a bronze medal.
