All-rounder Shadab Khan lit up the Multan Cricket Stadium with his scintillating performance to give Pakistan a dominating 53-run win over West Indies in the final ODI on Sunday (June 12). As a🃏 result, Pakistan completed the 3-0 clean sweep thaওt gave them 30 crucial points in the ongoing World Cup Super League.
Batting first, Pakistan got off to a good start, adding 85 for the opening wicket. Imam-ul-Haq continued from where he left in the previous game and smashed a vital half-century. However, West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran, who had never picked a wicket in international cricket prior to this game, turned the tables. Pooran broke the opening stand by cleaning up Fakhar Zaman (🌺35), which also followed a middle-order colla༒pse.
From 85/1, Pakistan were suddenly reduced to 117/5, with skipper Pooran doing the maximum damage. The Trinidadian picked up three more wickets in the form of Imam (62), Mohammad Rizwan (11) and Mohammad Haris (0) to complete his four-fer.
As the things were slipping out of Pakistan’s hands, all-rounder Shadab came to the rescue. The 23-year-old went for the counter attack, smoking 4 fours and 3 sixes in his 78-ball 86 runs knock that propelled the hosts to 269/9 in 48 overs.
Chasing 170, the visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually got bundled out for just 216, losing the contest by 53 runs. Akeal Hosein stood tal♈l against a quality bowling side but was only a lone warrior. He smashed 60💛 off 37 deliveries before Shadab dismissed him. The high-quality all-rounder, who shined with the willow, went on to take a four-wicket haul while conceding 62 runs in nine overs.
