England broke their own world record for the highest score in ODI cricket after smashing a humungous 498/4 against the Netherlands in the opening game of ꧒the ongoing three-match series at VRA Cricket Ground in Amste𒅌lveen on Friday.

As many as three batters – Phil Salt (122 off 93), Dawid Malan (125 off 109), and Jos Buttler (162 not out of 70 balls) – smashed centuries while Liam Livingstone (66not out off 22 balls) provided finishing touches as England went on to post the highest total in ODI 💧history, beating their own record of 481/6 they had piled on against Australia at Trent Bridge in 2018.

Highest team totals in ODIs:

  • 498/4 – England against Netherlands, 2022
  • 481/6 – England against Australia, 2018
  • 444/3 – England against Pakistan, 2016
  • 443/9 – Sri Lanka against Netherlands, 2006
  • 439/2 – South Africa against West Indies, 2015

In response, the Netherlan🔴ds could only manage to reach 266🍷 in 49.4 overs, to lose the contest by a big margin of 232 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Scott Edwards (72) and Max Odowd (55) smashed respective half-centuries, but it wasn’t enough to reach even near the total of England. English all-rounder Moeen Ali picked up three wickets for 5💫7 runs in his qꦗuota of 10 overs.
