Chamari Athapaththu led Sri Lanka Women to a seven-wicket win in the third and final T20I of the three-match series against India Women to save the hosts from getting whitewashed.
The visitors, after opting to bat, posted 138/5 in their allotted 20 overs—skipper Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with an unbeaten 39 off 33 balls, including three fours and a six. Similarly, Jemimah Rodrigues also shined with the bat, smashing 33 fro𒉰m 30 deliveries to take India to a competitive total.
In response, the home team had a terrible start, losing opener Vishmi Gunaratne (5) in the very first over. Soon, the Islanders lost Harshitha Madavi (13) to get reduced to 💜37/2. Then, captain Athapaththu took charge to b🧸ail Sri Lanka out of the hot waters.
The left-handed batter formed a breathtaking 77-run stand with Nilakshi de Silva for the third wicket to take the game away from India. De Silva’s innings was cut short by a run-out, but Athapaththu kept scoring runs from the other end.
The Lankan skipper smashed a half-century and stayed undefeated at 80 from just 48 deliveries with the help of 15 boundaries, including a six to help her side chase down the target with three overs to sp🍌are.

A comprehensive defeat. Well played💞 SL & Athapathtu !! They bowled well and batted with intent especially in the middle stages which was clearly lacking in the Indian innings. Some may argue it was matter of one wicket but in the end, they won by 7 wickets. Period.

Massive fan of Chamari Athapaththu..what a striker of the ball..and a pretty good bowler to boot. One of the absolute stars of the women’s game. So s🐭ad she had to miss the World Cup in NZ. Fabulous knock again today and a stirring win

This has been some run chase from SL! They might not be at their best form but they're showing that they're still a competitive team that can beat anyone on their day.
