Losing three matches on the trot, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) were finally back to the winning ways after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 49 of the ongoi🌳ng Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 ꦯon Thursday.
Put to bat first, the Challengers posted 173/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to valuable contributions by Mahipal Lomror (42), Faf du Plessis (38), Virat Kohli (30) and Dinesh Karthik (26 not out).
In response, the Super Kings did manage to take the game to the final over but eventually fell 13 runs short. Devon Conway smashed a vital half-century, but it wasn’t enough as CSK only managed to reach 160/8 in 20 overs.
After the contest, RCB stars were in the mood to have some fun in their dressing room celebrations. During the fun session, Glenn Maxwell teased Kohli as the two stars recoll♌ected🌠 the run-out from the RCB innings.
Notably, Maxwell was run-out for 3 after he faced just three deliveries while he tried to complete a quick single, responding to Kohli’s call in the middle. Maxwell fell well short of the crease as Robin Uthappa, at short cover, ran around the ball and got a good throw in to make sure CSK captain MS Dhoni whipped the bails off in time.
While reminiscing the moment, Maxwell jokingly told Kohli that he wouldn’t bat with the former captain anymore as he runs way too fast.
“I just can’t bat with you. You run too fast, you run too fast. You get ones and twos, I don’t,” Maxwell said in a video shared by RCB.

Maxwell did fail with the willow, but he compensated for it through his phenomenal performance with the ball. The Victorian picked up two important wickets of Uthappa (1) and Ambati Rayudu (10)🐬 while conceding only 22 runs in his quota of 4 over𝕴s.
Speaking about Maxwell’s supershow with the ball, RCB Director of Cricket Mike Hesson heaped praise on ▨the Aussie superstar, stating that the all-rounder was superb with his line and length and provided great support.
“He was exceptional, obviously, he got a bit of a niggle. But we knew how important he was not just to the left-handers but also to getting hit to the big side by the right-handers. He has got good control of length, that’s important. The fact that we were able to get all those overs of spin before the 12th over was so important because it gave Faf so much flexibility in the backend,” said Hesson.
