Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Chennai Super 💛▨Kings (CSK) in Match 49 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing 179, the Super Kings started pretty well as Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Devon Conway took their side to a flyer. The pair added 54 runs for the opening wicket Shahbaz Ahmed provided the breakthrough by dismissing Gaikwad (28) in the seventh over. RCB didn’t just stop there as in the very next over, they got rid of Robin Uthappa (1) as well.
Conway, meanwhile, looked settled and kept on tickling the scoreboard to ease off the pressure from one end. The left-handed batter carried out his good touch from the previous match and smashed another half-century. As the New Zealand star looked in complete focus to play another big knock, Wanindu Hasaranga sent back Conway꧋ to reduce CSK to 109/4 in 14.1 overs.
Conway’s dismissal opened the flood gates as CSK consistently lost wickets to reach 160/8, eventually losing the contest by 13 runs.
Earlier, RCB got off to a good start with Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessisꦓ getting past the powerplay without flying♍ colours.
The pair stitched a 62-run stand for the opening wicket before RCB’s batting got derailed, losing three wickets in quick successions. Moeen Ali removed both the openers Kohli (30) and Du Plessis (38), while Glenn Maxwell (3) met an unfortunate run-out as the Challengers were reduced t🌸o 79/3 at tﷺhe halfway stage.
Then, two uncapped players, Mahipal Lomror (42) and Rajat Patidar (21), steadied the innings with crucial contributions before Dinesh Karthik (26 not out) provided a late b꧟litz as RCB postedꦬ 173/8 in their assigned 20 overs.
For CSK, Maheesh Theekshana picked up three wickets for 27 runs in his quota of 4 overs, while Moeen♍ bagged a couple while giving away 28 runs ܫin 4 overs.

Weird game. Tactically all over the place (tons of spin, but no CSK spin in the Powerplay, holding Theekshana back for DK, Harshal held back more generally, Maxwell bowled out, v only 2 of Siraj), and the big difference being RCB's finisher (DK) stepped up where CSK's didn't.

Hazlewood was brilliant tonight against the team with which he won the IPL last year. Surely one of RCB's MVPs this year
