Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were involved in a nail-biting thriller at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. In a high-scoring contest, the match went down to the wire, where the five-time champions fell only 🔜three runs short to face their 10th loss in the fifteen𒅌th season of the cash-rich league.
After the game, skipper Rohit Sharma shared his take and revealed what exactly went wrong for Mumbai in the chase. Sharma reminisced the run-out of attacking batter Tim David as the real reason behind MI’s 3-run loss.
Notably, David almost pulled off a miraculous victory for his side with a sensational 18-ball 46 run knock which included four sixes off T Natarajan. However, his run-out in the 18th over reduced MI’s chances significantly. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s wicket-maiden penultimate over further took the game away from the Mumbai-based franchise.
“Till about the second to last over, I thought we had it. Unfortunate run-out of Tim David.. but we thought we were very much in the game till that run-out,” Rohit told host broadcaster Star Sports.
“Even 19 runs to go with two overs, you would back yourself to get that, but unfortunately, we couldn’t do it. Credit to Sunrisers to hold their nerve. It was a very tense moment, and they held their nerve very well at the back end,” he added.
Rohit sai🌳d he wanted to keep it simple for the last match and added that he would like to see his﷽ side tick all the boxes.
“We wanted to try a few things keeping one eye on the future. Just want to tick off the boxes and finish off on a high note. We will try everything we can from our side. If there is an opportunity to try out new guys, we will definitely look to do that as well,” Rohit added further.
