Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu created a buzz on social media when he tweeted that the current Indian Premier League (IPL) edition would 🌌be his last.
“I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey,” wrote Rayudu.
Soon after congratulatory wishes began, the IPL veteran deleted his origꦆinal tweet.
Rayudu, the five-times IPL winner, had previously announced retirement to international cricket in 2019 after being overlooked for Team India’s 2019 World Cup squad. Subsequently, he was coerced into returning to CSK and won his second title with the Chennai-based franchise in 2021.
According to CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan, Rayudu is not retiring fromꦕ the IPL and might be just upset with his performances in the ongoing edition.
“No no he’s not retiring. Maybe he wasn’t happy with his performances and might have put it out. Just a psychological thing, I reckon. He’ll be with us,” Vishwanathan was quoted as saying.

In IPL 2022, Rayudu has till now scored 271 runs in 12 matches at an average of 27.10. His team is out of the playoffs race after suffering eight defeats in 12 games. The Super Kings have just two encounters left – against Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals – in the current season.
