In the 32nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capꦦitals (DC) steamrolled Punjab Kings (PBKS) to register their third victory in the tournament at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday.
The dominance began with DC bowlers having complete authority in the proceedings to pack Punjab’s innings for a mere 115 runs in 20 overs. The likes of Khaleel Ahmed (2/21), Axar Patel (2/10), Kuldeep Yadav (2/24) and Lalit Yadav (2/11) all picked up two wickets each to derail Punjab’s batting unit.
For Punjab, only four batters – Jitesh Sharma (32), Mayank Agarwal (24), Shahrukh Khan (12), and Rahul Chahar (12) – could score in double digits.
In reply, DC openers – Prithvi Shaw and David Warner – continued the dominance with a ful🌳l assault on PBKS bowlers. The dynamic duo took Punjab bowlers to the cleaners, smashing 81 runs in the powerplay – making the highest in the fifteenth season of the cash-rich league. The pair went on to form a remarkable partnership of 83 runs before Chahar got rid of Shaw (41).
Highest Powerplay totals in IPL 2022:
- 81/0 – DC vs PBKS Brabourne*
- 73/1 – CSK vs LSG Brabourne
- 72/2 – PBKS vs CSK Brabourne
- 68/0 – DC vs KKR Brabourne
After Shaw’s dismissal, Warner kept the run-rate high, and eventually, DC chased down the paltry target in 10.3 overs with nine wickets in hand. The Aussie star smashed a brilliant half-century and stayed unbeaten at 60 off 30 deliveries.

Applause to Delhi Capitals’ support staff for not letting off fields hindrance affect its team’s ⛄performances. This is what cricket is all about, not letting anything affect the game.

We need Bonus Points in the IPL. NRR is fine…but impossible to keep a tab oveꦦr the course of 14 games. Bonus points are a more tangible form of rewarding a big win. Also, give the teams sitting at the bottom of the pile to create magic…Thoughts?

If Punjab continues to play with🌼 an aggressive approach, which I think they should but with an extr♏a batter( all rounder).

This is the firsꦛt time Delhi Capitals won an IPL match with 50+ balls remaining.
Their previous biggest win was back in 2008, with 42 balls remaining🗹 against DEC.

Love the way Kuldeep is bowling. I🌱 would venture to say that the extra 6-7kmph is making hi♎m an even better bowler than in that 2017-19 phase.
